May I know how much does this AV amp cost?

Yet 4X is $2XXX cheaper, for which you can use the price difference to buy a HDMI distributor.

This is exactly what I'm thinking as well. I don't really want to invest too much money on AV amps cos' they change too quickly.

I'm still using a very old Yamaha AX2 which I bought 6 years ago.

The reason why I want to change amp is the PCM decoder and video upscaling / hdmi selector function.

2700 & Ax4 both have 1080i upscaling, 8001 has upconversion only.

Frankly spekaing, 2700 has little difference to 2600 yet the price is $2000 more.

you can still use 720P upscaling for SD source like TV, cable TV.

Do you mean that 8001 cannot upscale 480i/p signal to 1080i or 720p?

At the moment, if AX4 has 2 hdmi out, it would be perfect!

Another question, do you think it is worth buying 989 as a dvd player now?

I know Blu-ray is already out and I also own a PS3. The problem is I still have over 300 dvds and I would like a better dvd player. I'm still using the Sony 9000es

8001 can convert 480i to 480P and convert signal from component/S-video/composite but no upscaling. (same as Onkyo 804)


I use Pioneer 989+4 combination, very satisfied.

Previously think of selling 989 and replace with a cheaper one with 1080P but finally give up, when consider the sound quality.
