Last night went to Hugo's inside Hyatt Regency Hotel next to K11. Is a very old school western restaurant. I never been to the old one though. The decoration is quite romantic Service is excellent.
I didn't order the tasting menu, because I am sure I can't finish all the food. So, beanso and I just order 3 entree, a soup, and a steak
The ceaser salad, steak tartare is prepare in front of you (actually nothing special). the foie gras terrine is okay, but has a slight bitterness on the finish.
The wine lovers must recognize the knife Luckily we are sharing the steak, because is super big. The photo is half portion of 350g. Ribeye is not as soft as I expeced, okay jar . the side dishes are heated, very nice service
Corkage is $350, not bad for a hotel. Wine has bottle aired for 12 hours, and among big 5, I think margaux is the most complex. Beanso loves it, because it is slightly more sweet than the other 1st growth. The nose started from fruits, then sweet candy, then earth and leather, and minty floral. Inside mouth is silky smooth, with a grip on the after taste with sweet that last over a minute. Really great experience.
after the steak, we really can't eat anymore, so the restaurant brought us some bonbons, chocolate coating vanilla icecream, served over dry ice. really full, and even can't take any coffee (really don't know what would happened if ordered the tasting menu , which I saw the next table was suffering with the cheese )
Overall experience: good place: good deco, and next time if I go again, I would recommend the round sofa service: very good, comfortable food: okay, not great. large portion, nothing fancy price: $1700 for 2 person, including corkage
